چکیده

Three-dimensional echocardiography has evolved from a laborious technique of prolonged image acquisition and reconstruction into a push-button tool performed with surface and transesophageal ultrasound transducers. Recent advances in matrix transducers with more than 3000 crystals and new processors allow for the acquisition of real-time images without the need for off-line reconstruction. In addition to the visualization of valvular anatomy, measurements of valvular structures and chamber volumes can also be easily calculated. This technique is superior to 2DE in measuring left ventricular volumes, especially in patients with

Effect of position on echocardiographic diagnosis of mitral valve prolapse

Echocardiography has been accepted as the diagnostic modality of choice for mitral valve prolapse (MVP). The determine the effect of position on echocardiographic diagnosis of MVP, we examined 693 consecutive patients referred to the echocardiography laboratory because of suspected MVP. First, patients were examined using the usual standard M-Mode echocardiography( left parasternal third or fou...

Three-dimensional echocardiography in mitral valve disease.

Three-dimensional echocardiography offers great promise for improving the understanding of the mitral valve anatomy, function, and pathology. It may have important implications for medical or surgical management of different mitral valve disease. In this article we provide an overview of the three-dimensional anatomy of the mitral valve. Based on the studies using three-dimensional echocardiogr...

Right sided heart evaluation after successful mitral valve replacement.

Introduction: It is well-documented that right-sided heart dysfunction and significant tricuspid valve regurgitation (TVR) have adverse effects on patient outcomes after left-sided heart valve surgery. Therefore, the evaluation of right ventriclular (RV) function and TR severity in patients who had undergone mitral valve replacement (MVR), associated with/without concomitant su...

Follow up the Treatment Process of Mitral Valve Diseases by Radiography and Echocardiography in Dogs

Background: Mitral valve disease is the most common acquired heart disease in dogs. Mitral valve regurgitation (MR) due to endocardiosis is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in dog. Echocardiography as a non-invasive tool is routinely used to evaluate and diagnose different disorders in the heart. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of medical treatmen...

Three-dimensional echocardiography. New possibilities in mitral valve assessment.

Recent developments in three-dimensional echocardiography have made it possible to obtain images in real time, without the need for off-line reconstruction. These developments have enabled the technique to become an important tool for both research and daily clinical practice. A substantial proportion of the studies carried out using three-dimensional echocardiography have focused on the mitral...

Dynamic three-dimensional reconstruction of the heart by transesophageal echocardiography.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate echocardiography accuracy in performing and obtaining images for dynamical three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction. METHODS Three-dimensional (3D) image reconstruction was obtained in 20 consecutive patients who underwent transesophageal echocardiography. A multiplanar 5 MHz transducer was used for 3D reconstruction. RESULTS Twenty patients were studied consecutively. Th...
